If you own a pool, you most definitely want to have a solar pool cover.  There are many benefits to using these and the cost is worth it. Having a pool, you will want to use it for as long as possible.  Using a solar pool cover, you can greatly extend the swimming season.  These covers will raise the temperature of the pool by 15% in some cases by using the energy of the sun.  This way, you do not need to pay for costly heating elements and the heating bills associated with them.

A solar pool cover will also help to keep leaves and debris out of the pool.  With the cover on, you can spend less time skimming the pool and more time enjoying the water.  Nothing is more frustrating than spending several minutes of your swim time skimming the pool and trying to clean it. With a nice cover you can just pull back the cover and enjoy a nice clean pool. Once you have the cover off the water, you can quickly and easily clean off any leaves and dirt that have been collected by the cover.

Purchasing a solar pool cover reel will make the job of rolling and unrolling the cover all the more easier.  These are made in above ground and in ground versions.  Once rolled up, the cover is neatly out of the way. You do have two options when it comes to pool cover reels. The first option is the most expensive and it is the automatic version. This would not be as ideal for those that have an above ground pool. However, if you have a nice in-ground pool then consider an automatic reel. This will make it simple for you especially if you have a bigger sized pool. The second option is just a manual reel or a hand cranked version. This is best if you have a smaller pool as it would not take as long to hand crank the solar pool cover.

If a full cover is not desired, there are other options available.  There are smaller round dots that are smaller in size and do the same job as a full sized cover.  These float on top of the water and can be easily placed in the pool.  When it is time to take them out, they usually store neatly together in a tidy manner. There are also chemical options available.  These are placed into the water system and release a chemical barrier that floats on top of the water.  These are not as effective as physical barriers, but are easier to use. An even newer option to heating the pool is to purchase floating heating balls. These are designing to attract heat and as they float in the water they heat the water. No matter what type of cover is used, it is important to use one for your pool.  It will keep it warmer and make daily cleaning much easier. Above all else, be sure to do some comparison shopping as you will find that there is a wide variety of costs associated with solar pool covers.
